Media Exec Pens Maternity Survival Guide

Emily Malloy was born in Montréal, Quebec where she graduated from McGill University with a degree in Economics. She is an executive with over 15 years of experience in the advertising industry having worked at major media players Mediacom, Touche!, and Initiative before taking on the role as President for Orion Canada.

I originally met Malloy years ago as she first enrolled in AMA Toronto’s prestigious Mentor Exchange program.  Its not a surprise as the program attracts high performance types.  Fortunately for AMA, Malloy then joined their Career Accelerator program where she has mentored young professionals over the past 4 years.

Earlier this month, Malloy published Matleisure: A Maternity Leave Survival Guide & The Art of Enjoying It.  So I had to ask, why write this book?

She had originally planned on publishing this book years ago.  But as with any working parent, life, and all of its curveballs, put that plan on pause.  “My original ambition was to publish this book a few years ago. But then, lots of unexpected things took place. I got divorced, the global pandemic happened, and my son got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of three. When it came to the book itself, I underestimated the time and effort it would take me to get to the finish line” said Malloy.

“The whole reason I began writing Matleisure, was in the hopes that the insights I gathered from my own maternity leave might be useful to someone other than myself. ”

Early book reviews are touting it as “one of the best books on Maternity Leave” and a “thoroughly enjoyable read”. Malloy hopes that Matleisure will help other working first time mothers with “tapping into as much joy as possible during this finite and sometimes jarring life event”

Matleisure will be available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble & Apple Books.
